"But some believe it will not be built for many years, if at all, because of widespread public opposition". This sums it up no matter what side of the coin you're on. The Government is supposed to be of the people and for the people. Canada like us and many others , have forgotten that special interests are not always of the people, but the best for their bottom line, the people be damned. Imminent Domain and laws like it that promote business by legalizing stealing land that is owned and taxes paid on is a means that Big Business can say they're "for the people" until you see that strip mall that is built and not completed, or built, but it was only a viable "mall" until the next bigger one was made ten miles down the road on land that could've been in someone's family for decades or centuries, but more than likely wasn't.

I agree, Warren, its not perfect. Trudeau took Indian land in British Columbia to make a hyrdo project. The government is flooding a valley to make a dam and from there I found out they will produce CO2 from the rotting vegetation that is not subject to a carbon tax. That really pisses me off. I can't root for corruption or outright stealing but I suspect there is also payola to the protestors by others outside Canada or the USA to kill certain projects.https://www.rallypoint.com/shared-links/colin-dormuth-what-we-call-a-carbon-tax-is-really-just-a-tax-on-the-petroleum-industry
Colin Dormuth: What we call a carbon tax is really just a tax on the petroleum industry |...
The American and Canadian public are being lied to on renewable Energy. You find it its not just cars and industry that are the biggest contributing factor. This Carbon tax is a big scam just for tax and spend Democrats, liberals(Democrats in Canada) and Green party people. This won't be in the mainsteam media. I bet HRC will put a carbon tax on Hydro now until people revolt like they have in Canada after their electric bills tripled.

Didn't know this either, but either party could take a stab at this and make it go their way. It's supposed to be a slap at Big Oil, but it's a slap at us. Take a slap at us, and Big Oil will stand by and let it happen, and play stupid knowing we're taking the hit for them. So in this is there really any winners? HRC slaps a "tax" on Big Oil and Big Oil slaps up the price of oil as a response mechanism to ensure their bottom line is protected. It's a vicious cycle where right now the Canadians are getting the screw, but it's looks like it could come to us, and we'll take it even harder being some of our power is gotten from our northern buddies. Good post Sir.

The government of Canada has environmentalists that are as extreme as Jane Fonda is left in certain environment postions and now its hurting the economy with 100k out of work just in Alberta, Canada with a population of 3 million! I suspect also that Hollywood progressives fly on their lear jets to help. I also suspect money from Russia and the Middle East is influencing the Green Party and other environmental groups in Canada and maybe in the USA. 1.5 million barrels a day can be exported if we had the pipelines all built! Instead Iran, Saudi Arabia and Russia get the cash they need and both Canada and the USA suffer the lack of jobs and revenue kept in house in North America. It is a recession in Edmonton. 2 years ago we had below 6% unemployment. it is over 8% now.
