First of all, if anyone here is going to get into personal online security, you should be versed in risk management and network security. Using services like Tor and VPNs can certainly add a few more layers of security (presuming you get a service who's owner is living up to the claims they make... How do you know they are?). But ask yourself... Is it worth the cost? The time involved setting it up on all your devices? You also might want to look into exactly what the new laws means. Especially since there are way too many people speculating erroneously. So if you want to give a boost to "secure" apps and VPN services, have at it. Definitely helps to ensure my job never goes away. So again, I reiterate; How are these secure services able to provide their service, who funds them, How much is it, and how much will your service degrade (connectivity, lag, overhead, etc...) when you use them.
