Goes to show that smoking kills you and maybe elements of your convoy. Stop smoking, stop being an addict. Vape to get off the habit. 2 workers I know have vaped and reduced their dosages by half and can vape once a day with 8 chemicals instead of 200 carcinogens. It is no accident that for some junkies, its easier to get off of crack than to stop smoking. Why do you think the cig companies add ammonia and other chemicals to make it harder to quit? It is no accident. Just think how much money you will save not having to buy $6 a pack of smokes every day? What really gets me mad is that the tobacco settlement reached a long time ago went to balance the budget of the states and not to go to smoking prevention programs. I am so upset to this this day. My wife, at age 39, had an aneurism just before Valentine's day, 2015. She had brain surguery but others in her family had them too and did not survive. It was caused by binge smoking! The surgeon showed her months afterwards on the cat scan. It may not happen to you but it is possible. Stop smoking at home and in war time and you will live longer!

All,
I bet you have some memories or know people with memories, photos and short stories of active duty. Please forward to other vets and National Security professionals.
A group at a charity I work for has started a Virtual Archives for National Security or LC-VANS. We have a couple of pages up which should jog your memory. We would like content, short stories, personal experiences and pictures of those days in history. Like the Cold War, the motor pool was normal. Going to the field was normal for participants. Let's share the stories and hope the new generation will not make our mistakes. We are also looking for Iraq and AFG pictures and stories.
Recent story:

The three pages I have are the Cold War, Worldwide, The Vietnam War, and the tours of duty in Korea Post Olympics.

The one best story I have involved an incident during our convoy from Abqaiq to Rafha. I was the S4 NCOIC assigned to the 2/319th AFAR which was in support of the 82d’s 2d BDE Task Force.
