Thank you, my friend SGT (Join to see) for sharing the official music video of the Beatles performing "Love Me Do" live at the BBC for "Pop Go The Beatles" on July 23,1963.
"Love Me Do" written by John Winston Lennon and Paul James McCartney
Lyrics
Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Someone to love
Somebody new
Someone to love
Someone like you
Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Yeah, love me do
Whoa, oh, love me do"

The Beatles came out in the early 60s... Some of the songs were okay .. I was just NOT into their fast type music.. I liked the easy melody type music.. stuff for slow dancing. Some other groups in that genre , their music was about the same..
I was into the country-western genre of songs.., My parents seemed to believe I had a serious math problem.. I wasn’t interested in Algebra or Calculus or trigonometry.. give me general math and I’m ok .. I surmise my dad had long talks with teachers and counselors.. and s’how we got material from a friend of his and that guy’s brother sent his son to a catholic school and they had a JROTC program.. specifically AFJROTC.. well they were out in Mo. or should I say Misery? .. I surmise from what point one is viewing the sitrep at that point..
in my 4 th grade year we went on vacay out there.. I went all through there and it was to my liking .. it wasn’t exactly inexpensive but no more than catholic school education.... whatever it was in ‘64 $$ amounts.. of course the local Catholic Church wanted my dad’s $$ but if I had to.... they preferred my parents kept it in a catholic run school. So out to Mo. I went.. Mom sent pics of my brothers every chance possible saying how
They missed me.. she was trying to make me homesick... I loved my brothers but I wasn’t homesick to see them . In fact.. the more I seen them pics the more I threw myself into my school work.. Mom insisted I keep their pic where I could see it every tim e walked in my room and in the background of any my fellow classmates took with my camera. I had Intentions to stay there.. when I did my evening pushups, sit-ups I had their pic where I could see it.. that was my incentive to pump out perfect push-ups and sit-ups or benders.. (whatever exercise one bends a part of their body). .. same with doing studies.. I got deeper into them.. By beginning of 2d semester I had Cadet SGT. Held it a while too.. walked into my room and found a bundle of C/SSGT Chevrons on my rack by end of 4th semester .. others were putting on C/A1C by that time.. They weren’t following right along with the AF in their rank structure.. they were more into the future. Because then in the AF ; 1 stripe was AMN 3rd, 2 was A2C and 3 was A1C.. We were calling it SGT. Already.. Some of the advisors(Ret. Techs n Masrter SGTs). Were used to the AF way of calling it when they were on A.D. The Cmdt... himself a ret’d Col. Thought it’d be a morale picker-upper if we Used SGT for 3 stripes and A1C for two.. and Airman for 1.. For some odd reason we never got but a few big top inspectors.. Maybe it was the way we did our ranking.. We still got some top awards and sponsored a Regional drill comp.. We won that too.. The committee typed our names as c/A3c Brown, C/3c Smith, C/3c Jones and on up the ranks the old way.. Our Cmdt. Took a new group pic and then did copies and put our ranks on the way he had us as.. AMN on up through the NCO ranks.. I was out of there when I turned 14. Returned home to regular school . JROTC didn’t start until Freshman year.. that screwed me up and I had 1 year out of JROTC.. Our system was a little off with Great Lakes Region>( Indiana, Wis, Mi. Ohio, Pa. I think , but not sure). Anyway I was allowed to start as a C/ SSGT. I picked up
C/TSGT by the 2d Semester and be a Flight Sergeant. We had to fill out a group request to visit other schools in the JROTC program.. in our State.. And have an adult advisor with us, travel by an official vehicle.. they loved making it hard on us.. As for going to their sport’g events we were ok to go to. We had a couple schools that had discplinary probs so we had to play them on Sat. Afternoons.. they didn’t have JROTC so we didn’t go over there.. it was a safety thing (s’thing about their ‘turf’.) So we let them have it .. there was another school that had a turf sitrep but they were receptive to our JROTC visiting their school.. They had it too.. They had some good after game school sponsored dances..
A lot of the different genres were played (being on thedge of the farming area.. a few areas still had their Grange halls.. So some liked country western style music too..
was visiting one school on a Fri. When our school had a Sat. Game at a ‘problem school’(our school found it could get a bonus check (travel and a few amenities to go with)playing ‘problem schools’. We had 3 we Played football against and they didn’t hurt us in our league.. our teams got done playing and headed home.. it was better to play on your own field.. a driver was $100 (it was Sat) the getting the bus ready, fuel, checking engine, was it clean?.. another $200 ! Our school got !400 .. I s’pose it’s not to be that profitable.. .. So we get back and have Sat. Night dance playing the various genres .. The student advisory counsel (think provost). Felt us JROTC Cadets.be more relaxed wearing civies to the dance,
So.. what do we do to show our
Being JROTC? Yep.. wear our blazers , open neck ok .(no tie)., gray trousers(mid Oct through mid April) dressy khaki style mid April through Mid Oct.. more tan than actual khaki. We bought the Navy Khaki style trousers via clothing sales.. S’body mentioned about mixing uniform with civ. Well it’s ok because we’re wearing them with our AFROTC blazer.. So it’s still semi uniform(?).. We went to another school visiting and it was just after Mid April.. but to play it safe we wore the gray dress-up trousers.. Good thing too, they wore tbe gray with their blazer year round.. personally.. I kinda liked the gray better so I Have to remember gray or khaki .. I thiought
When I joined AF Reserve and I had off-Duty affairs to go dressy-casual to .. (I got invited to several by the train’g NCO and her husband our unit 1SGT. Some I went to I took wore jeans and comfy shirt and ran the BBQ grills .. yeah.. working parties !.. I think there were as many dressy-casual as there were being on the bbq grills .. The music was great.. depending on the theme.. After that first year I went Reg. AF and not as many off duty sitreps.. well almost not as many.. Our CMSGT was lining up us guys to be grillers for the General’s parties.. and Some fun and some “stuffy-snobby” affairs.. I worked a few of those also.. For those a few of us had our Chef outfits.. A couple of the General’s Aides had their Chef certification.. aside from myself and another SSGT. Who’d been a aide and came back to working the regular Food Service program.. him and I took charge and ran setting up in the Dining Hall the displays for special holidays.. A couple Sergeants took exception to that SSGT favoring me over. Some of their Airman buds.. and they sought to rectify the sitrep.. “Hey Herrst get over there where Jeffries is and peel them carrots !..and give him your Chef Jacket !
(My Jacket was too big.. Jeffries was bone skinny.. 5’2” .. my jacket would drape him..). I was faster.. he still had a half sack to peel(about 25 lbs). Them guys weren’t organized.. So I took over that op. S’body insisted on fresh fries.. not those in a bag.. and had to be peeled, NO natural fries.with skins... I seen the had quite a lot done .. I started a couple curing the ends off and two opposite long
Sides and looked like a rectangular box.. the others cut those into French fry sticks .. another and myself took care of the carrots.. put that fat end(where the leaves come
Out of.. and spin the tip around and move the peeler up and down as it goes around(peeler has two blades, so it peel going down and coming back up ). We got a bunch done and then get the ends cut off.. another guy I had him cutting o. The bias( / ).. we cut some into carrot sticks too made about a 100..
Anyway we got them and celery sticks and some cut to stuff cream cheese in the open cavity.. Maybe it was a good move putting me on that stuff.. My team got done and cleaned our area and went to help others after we caught a quick break.. we helped some others setting tables up under tents.. there was a wood floor so nobody’s chair legs sank into the grass..
We got all done and gathered for a de-brief.. my partner came back..
his child got hurt on some playground gear.. he was good to go... So my partner came back to finish and we were just about done except the meat on the spits..
I got put back on that and that Airman sent back .. except he was done and was relieved for the day..
How nice ! After a few hours we were too .. we cut some big chunks off and cut slices out of them.. some was overdone .. and some medium and medium rare.. . We had medics all over taking temps and making sure we followed protocol for sanitation/food safety..
We had big shams to keep the meat and baked beans and Veggies in.. I got informed my services for the activity were appreciated and I was done for the day.. I actually wanted to stay and see the prople consume all that food.., and a nice thank you for doing this from the guests would be the best gratuity..
I appreciated what the leaders said, but I wanted to hear the guests.. whatever they said.. so we can evaluate and do a better job for another like event..
