Yes Manchester United lost a number of football players on this day in 1958 TSgt Joe C.. During the Cold War sports matches between east and west still took place, Belgrade, Yugoslavia was considered a neutral area since Tito was not a vassal state of the USSR. It was sad that team lost players even as they qualified to advance to the semifinals of the European Cup.
Real Madrid C.F. went on to win the European Cup during this third year of the series.
