Actually yes, there are multiple studies that indicate that childhood exposure to low levels of zoonotic diseases (infectious diseases of animals that can naturally be transmitted to humans), toxins, and allergens essentially "inoculate" the body's defense mechanisms and lead to substantially lower rates of chronic illnesses and allergies in later life.

The post-WWI influenza epidemic killed somewhere between 20 million and 40million people. 100 years ago inoculating large segments of the population, particularly those with compromised immune systems because of chemo-therapy, radiation therapy, age (extremely young or old) with live attenuated versions of the three most commons strains of influenza would have been considered attempted mass murder. Now we know better.

I would like to see such studies, but, the premise makes sense. We as a society haven't faced a disease that wipes out people in droves, my grandmother tells an interesting story of how polio pushed her first year of school back a month or two to her birthday. So in a sense, the air is too clean and we don't face such terrors. I fear, we are overdue to face such a killer and that we won't be prepared for such an indevour.

Hence the emphasis on coal power.

Didn’t see that coming, did you?

We already know that coal miners are skee-rood regardless, CW4 Guy Butler. Applications for coal are limited compared to the earlier centuries of the U.S.

Capt Dwayne Conyers, missing the point. Coal power plants dump more particulates into the air, making children healthier. That’s why the rewrite to the clean air standards and the emphasis on coal in the electrical grid report.

It’s all tied together.

BTW folks I want to comment more publicly on this. EPA does not measure water quality at your tap..........that is your responsiblity as a home owner. Having said that, I realize there is a implicit trust that the City will monitor and comply with EPA standards at the local Water Pumping Station. Highly recommend you do NOT trust the City and have your water either filtered in your home or monitor it on occasion at your tap. I live in North Texas and the City has brand spanking new water supply system and even put up signs across the City how the water system is one of the best in the United States. The Water Pressure flucuates between 45 and 90 PSI........which is damaging to internal plumbing unless you put in a pressure reduction valve, Additionally because North Texas gets it's water primarily from surface collection reservoirs, the City mixes and matches between water reservoirs causing the hardness of the water to vary at times in ridiculous spikes. Hence even with EPA requirements being met and a brand new water system............shit happens. Hence you should buy a Water Pressure monitor guage connect to your external hose bib (Home Depot about $10) and have your tap water tested to see what else they are doing that might impact you. Just a precautionary note..........don't take your City water for granted that it is managed properly.
