This is what happens when you have years of what can you do for me. Some people lose all integrity.

This is not the first this has happened. There is a lot of cronyism in the senior ranks especially in the Navy. I am confident they will get it fixed and get back on schedule. Those selection board are very responsive. They also have a great team supporting them.

I see that the good ole boy network is still, preventing a large number of Senior Chiefs not E-8s from advancing. I got caught up in this system of selection process myself, and don't really hold any grudges. I went up 3 times each time I was more than elligable and highly recommended by the commands for immediate selection. However, having been responsible for removing some E-8s From their duties as LCPO! These were all directly resulting from loss of confidence in their abilities to effectively lead those under their charge /mentorship! So that brings up who made Master Chief, and who wasn't going going to be selected. It's not that we enjoyed stopping a career from advancing, but that's why there's a system of checks and balances that affords subordinates the guidance/leadership they are due. Then in closing it's also what's in the best interest of the United States Navy and in preserving good order and discipline. I retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and dam proud of the stellar career I achieved! This type of selection process is a total disgrace to all concerned,so let's ensure that we put in place a realistic selection process that's actually comprised of true Master Chiefs and not a bunch of E-9s. My philosophy is and always has been "To Lead, Follow, Or Get The He'll Out of the Way ", there's no other option for you as a Senior enlisted leader. Your the example of which subordinates look up to for their enlistment and potential reenlistment. So do your job!

Hopefully they can get to the root of everything and get those 500 slots filled quickly. Best of luck to all those up for selection.
