I concur. Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth

Service to country in these days and times are not high priority. That being said the youth of today are not ready. Mental and physical toughness, grit and resilience are not prevalent in today's society. Drafting is not the answer. Pride in ourcountry needs to be restored.

First major war like Vietnam and I feel we will lose 1/3 of our SM to mental health. That is not just our youth's fault but the parents that have never seen bad until COVID. My son had a FB game cancelled because there was lightening in the state. Exaggerated a bit but that is reality. To hot, to cold, rain, and they come inside. My 12yo will be in a hunting blind with a rifle for the first time the end of this month regardless of the weather and when it took 3rd place in a wrestling tournament he did not take home a medal. There were only three wrestlers in his class and I told him 3rd place was last place. People need to start parenting for the bad things that happen as adults, not rainbows and unicorns.

"The soldier is the Army. No army is better than its soldiers. The Soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country."

SFC Stephen King - Right on Brother. I have had several of my former students join the Army (where most go). And, a few who have gone Air Force or Navy but only two that I know of went to the Marines. I don't endorse or condemn any branch. That's their decision.
