It was said that the 101st was able to fight off heavy mechanized German units because their training was so hard that only the best made it into the division.

Here is a song for the CSM. It is called Returning Home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAEeHGHb9QQ

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - It gave me goosebumps. In one episode a lone soldier took on a whole German unit to cover the retreat of his company. He ended up creating a makeshift fighting position in the middle of the street. At the end of the episode the Germans said they had never encountered such fierce resistance.

In another episode soldiers/marines had 4 crew served fighting positions on a hill in Korea. They were attacked in mass by the Chinese. A SGT was the last man standing so he ran from one fighting position to another to give the impression that it was defended by a unit and to lay down more steel downrange.

Again. Major goosebumps.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - I think the official army narrative of Bastogne was the 101st fought off German armor divisions, and Patton came to the rescue.

MAJ Ken Landgren - Official narrative are normally full of sh*t. For example the USAF narrative of daylight precision bombing having a major impact on German production is simply propaganda, the Strategic Bombing Survey after the war proved that. What the the 8th Air-force tactful did was force the Luftwaffe to fight and that ended the Luftwaffe as a relevant force, But the bombers being bait is to brutal a fact for propaganda purposes.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - Yeah we figured it was easier to bomb cities, and the advent of the P-51 changed the dynamics of the air war.
