PO1 William "Chip" Nagel cool beans. Next time you’re this way, let me know. I’m in the northern suburb, Vancouver.

I know this is satire but, in reality Portland is a shining example of how NOT to fix your road congestion problems: Instead of adding more highway lanes and removing the chokepoints on I-5, I-295, I-405, US 26 and US 30 to let the traffic flow into and around Portland, they put in more and more bike lanes to clog the surface streets even tighter, which backs up the clogged highways even further. What's next, Portland? Ooh, ooh, I know; it's time to close another major artery bridge to vehicle traffic and make it bikes and Peds only!
PS: VooDoo donuts is awesome. If you ever get to Portland, try them. Sadly, it's the only recommendable thing in the City.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Blue Star donuts. Powell’s Books is awesome, the Portland Japanese Garden and the Chinese Garden are also cool. Then <50mi you have the gorge, <100mi you have Mt Hood, Mt St Helens, and the coast. You need to explore more.
Plus we have the Unipiper. We are the microbrew and strip club capital of the world, and you can count on the weather being fairly mild year round (including the ever-present drizzle). But we do also have a lot of Hipsters.

CW2 (Join to see) - Explore more? I know the area like the back of my hand. Lived there for 20 years; bailed out to Florida in 2015. All that you mentioned is correct (except Blue Star Donuts; no one can top VooDoo); unfortunately, all is suffocated by extreme far-left politics coming out of the Portland-Salem-Eugene corridor and it's ruining the entire state. Would be nice if the flatlanders would stay up in Portland and do whatever they want to themselves while leaving the rest of the State alone, but that didn't happen. 20 years in Oregon, wife's from Astoria, kids and relatives all over Clatsop County. You really want to hang your hat on "strip club capital" of the world?

PO1 John Johnson I’m a native of the area, and other than where military service has taken me out of the area, always been a resident.
I can’t, and won’t, argue the politics and far left ass-backwardsness that’s been going on for the past 20 (40+) years.
With all the strip clubs that closed, we may not be the capital any more, haven’t loooed it up in a while. Still funny to think little Portland, Oregon had more strip clubs than places like Thailand. Who knows if it is still that way...?
