Thank you for the history lesson. I didn't know how much religion was a part of the Civil War.

TSgt Dawn Premock - The two songs (the same melody) that the North marched to war with were openly religious, the milder of the two was the openly religious and openly harsh Battle Hymn, and John Browns body, the original was downright brutal.

Every war is usually named with some type of religious belief. It's how we justify killing each other. :(

Thanks SFC Mary , That was an amazing piece , Just goes to show that God works in mysterious ways and so to speak go through the wine press to get us into the promised land to the point that President Lincoln died on Good Friday !!!! Praise The Lord !!!!

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - Probably all 600, 000 had some kind of religious convictions but thats not the end all for the loss and the statement was essentially saying the war was a stalemate until the north was fully committed to freeing slaves and thats where Im coming from that they were coming more in line with Gods will , His will be done with or without us or another 600,000 of us might have to die till we learn our lesson ... God is God and he is not a respecter of persons and there are highly honorable people on both sides People look at it one way and God looks at things totally different And The free will that he gave us will allow this crap to go on until it implodes .. everyone of us are the problem not the enemy but the enemy is us ... Its not how religious a person may be or look like or even a preacher but more like a relationship with the One true God , Knowing him through his word and doing his will !!! Those 600,000 you mention are not dead as we know it , but are more alive then we are in the spirit ...

SGT Robert George - Both side thought they were obeying gods will, and that was my point, Just as both sides say god is on their side in any religious war. Hell many of the Nazis claimed god was on their side.

I know , Im not disputing what your saying !!! God is with whoever is doing or trying to do his will Its not about us or them or anybody else , thats all generic Its about the person and God ... Acts 10:34
