Can you separate the artist from their art? Many Vietnam Vets revile Jane Fonda. I do, but have really enjoyed her recent series on Netflix "Grace and Frankie" (which, incidentally, stars another of my less than favorite actors, Martin Sheen). Now, Mel Gibson, an anti-Semitic, racist bigot has produced what appears to be a very fine film based on a military story. Will you help this SOB get richer? Why? Why not?

Great question Sir.
I go back to the Chic Filet debate. I don't go there for their stance on Marriage, I go there for their ability to make Chicken. If they are able to provide good Chicken and a good Price with good Service, everything else is irrelevant.
I treat actors the same way. He has provided several good movies (as a director and actor). Therefore I don't care about his political leanings. Just don't care. It's not a case of me forgiving or forgetting. It's a case of realizing that he is paid to speak other people's words and he has the potential to use that celebrity badly just like anyone else. If I start treating him or his position as "special" then I need to start treating everyone of these other knuckleheads as special merely because they happen to be famous. A lot of them are just stupid. They didn't get into film because they were injured to doing astrophysics....

I feel the same way you do about Hanoi Jane but get a kick of Grace & Frankie. She sure has aged well.
