Hah that's chump change, the Australian military has been dishing out all kinds of money to boost its ranks. In 2012 they offered New Zealand soldier's up to $250,000 to go down under. The large amount is to help those with families offset the costs of moving to another area. Additionally Australia still has a ongoing effort to recruit foreign military especially US servicemembers. Past bonuses for those switching over has been in the 6 figure dollar mark to help with moving expenses. Which has irritated a lot of Australian's since they don't get any bonuses.

Recruiting is always goes in up and down cycles. We have shortages then we have cutbacks... there never seems to be a balance.
