In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. It was also the year that the Spanish took back Grenada after 800 years of Muslim rule. That didn't end the Caliphate and killing al-Baghdadi won't do much in the long run. The plague that is ISIS is just a part of the Caliphate. And the dream that is the Caliphate will go on, until Muslim leaders throughout the world, decide to end it or at the very least the nations of the world decide to end it with extreme prejudice.

If Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been or will be killed in the near future I would expect a brief operational pause in many of ISIS's military activities SGT (Join to see). I would expect the recruitment efforts to ramp up and the financial - acquisition, distribution and black market sales to be steady.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi will be considered a martyr when he is killed. Hopefully his bodily remains would be dumped into the Mediterranean Sea or Black Sea after conclusive identification. That way his body would not become a shrine to the terrorist faithful.

I agree with you that there might be brief pause, but it won't be much at all. Someone is going to step up, al-Baghdadi will be idolized as a martyr, and the loyalists are going to keep being crazy.

SGT (Join to see) - I try to be careful in my responses because I am very sensitive to OSEC.
I am glad my old friends GEN Joe Votel and GEN Tony Thomas are the commanders of allot of what is occurring in this area.

An elite member of ISIS will step up. I believe they are accustomed to decentralized operations, thus, they will not miss much of a step.
