Shootdown Account of Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto

Great to read the actual report, PO1 William "Chip" Nagel on Operation Vengenace. There was great controversy as to who actually shot down Yamamoto’s Betty; Lanphier or Barber. Although Lanphier was given credit, it seems generally accepted now that Barber was the actual one who completed the mission.
There was also some buzz at one time that the U.S. should not have conducted an assassination mission, but that seems like it’s no longer a problem.
The photos are of a P-38 (like used in the mission) and the actual wreckage of Yamamoto’s Betty.
