Thanks for sharing LTC Ivan Raiklin, Esq.
Okinawa was the first battle on an island which Japan considered part of its homeland. As expected the fighting was ferocious - if memory serves me roughly 50,000 US service members were killed and over 100,000 Japanese service members and civilians were killed in the months long fight.
I was saddened when I learned in the 1960s that one of my childhood hero's Ernie Pyle was killed during this campaign in 1945.
Here are some images related to the battle - black and white.

LTC Ivan Raiklin, Esq. What great videos - I'm watching the first clip now - thanks for the share! Since Sunday, 25 June 2017 is gone and past - will they be showing it again in the future?
