I've heard numerous accounts of this day in WWI history. All have the same story and yet every story is different. I'm always amazed at how "civilized" war used to be. There were rules and for the most, those rules were followed. Try playing soccer with ISIS? I think not.

One of the saddest moments of war. My wife is English and her family have ancestors who were members of several of the divisions who "played soccer" and sang carols with troops they were steadfastly trying to kill hours earlier. Thanks for posting.
