SSG Robert Mark Odom As quoted in the article, "The student response to the Vietnam War set the stage for today’s culture of youth activism that has used the Internet to spread all over the country," Do they mean the rioting that is happening across the country?
As a Vietnam veteran, they only mentioned that the military was demoralized after the war, they did not mention how the country treated returning Vietnam veterans and for me that was and still is a bigger issue. Yes the big story was us sending young men to fight and die in a country with jungles. We sprayed them with agent orange. Many died and many were wounded. Many had PTSD. The country vilified them. The government ignored them. By the time the VA had tried to rectify the situation it was too late as many had already died or committed suicide. Many of the rest of the Vietnam veterans had tough lives. I am both angry and sad considering what transpired.

Shit I need to proof read everything. I am embarrassing myself and can’t be a literary titan if I can’t even type one coherent sentence. MAJ Ken Landgren

This is not a declared War as only Congress can authorize it. It failed miserably. It is the most despised, detested and protested conflict ever. It is permanently etched into my core being. I served from 1969 to 1973 and was never deployed there.
After reading H.R. McMaster's account of 5 consecutive administrations betrayals who were advised by the military we are unable to succeed in these types of combat.
Pres. Johnson became so frustrated with Vietnam that over a weekend he seriously considered nuking N. Vietnam.Glad he did not.
I feel even more bitter.

SSgt Richard Kensinger, it was not a conflict, it was a full scaled war that lasted more than 20 years and more than 58,000 American lives and its still killing us.
