Glad to hear this. Anacostia was horribly polluted when I was in college in 60s and sure it only got worse. Amazing that with a little TLC we can bring such rivers back to a healthy environment.

I really feel that as Americans we should accept and appreciate that which we have; develop America to make it more attractive, yet don't make attraction the core of our imagination. What is the Anacostia polluted with; is it silt, waste run-off or industrial garbage? Compare this pollution with the polluted waters of the Ganges or even the Bhramaputra and then, ask yourself whether the Anacostia is actually polluted. Most likely, investment in river cleanup in India is far more appealing and appreciative that cleaning Anacostia; FDI for Ganga and Yamuna cleanup is the need of today.
