Always was a cool looking aircraft but unfortunately in that era (despite what Top Gun would have us think) maneuverability was not what would win the day. It was the ability to "spot" the enemy first and engage at missile range. In that, the Mig-29 was woefully outmatched by its western counterparts.

(I should add, that has a lot to do with the support system behind the F-16, like the AWACs).

Great video, thanks. Us tanker guys were less worried about the MiG 29 than the Su 27 due to range.
Surprised the title indicates it was a response to the F-16 when the video discussion indicates the F-15 (1972 introduction) precipitated the MiG 29 development in 1974. F-16 didn't fly until 1974. And twin-engine, twin tail design is a closer parallel to F-15. But the price difference would be even larger if the comparo was done vs the F-15.
