Opinions may very but I have never heard of the most famous bands in Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, S. Dakota, Vermont, DC, West Virginia, and Wyoming. In contrast I love Arkincrack, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, NY, and S. Carolina. Authors opinion- and am sure there are many better bands from each state. Throw in your favs RP

I had to stop looking at the list, Maj Marty Hogan! There are so many unbelievably fantastic groups from California, to proclaim The Grateful Dead as the best is just wrong. Also, the Carpenters were from Downey, CA, not CT.
Here's where I quit, though. Naming Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers over Lynyrd Skynyrd as the best group from FL, is profoundly wrong!
