Mark,
I feel sad for the families of the fallen. I also feel sad for the Muslims of that Mosque who now fear they will be targeted for something one person did that does not represent the Mosque and its values.
Imams and Mosques are just like people, they have their own personalities. If this gunman belonged to this Mosque may or may not mean anything. If they have been monitoring what the Imams have been saying is important.
We did that all the time in Iraq. We had discussions briefed to the General and the Staff on Saturday's Battle Update Brief (BUB) to the Brigade on what the Mosque's Imams were saying the day before. If it was Pro, Neutral or Anti-American. Our Chaplain would attempt to go see the Imams who talked trash later in the week but we found out later that one Mosque had a firebrand jerk Cleric drive in from Sadr City, give his hate speech then leave immediately afterwards back to Baghdad.
I can see this Mosque being good to those who have a sense of belonging. It gives, just like a Church or Synagogue, people a sense of purpose in their lives. If this Mosque does not have any anti-american rhetoric in the Friday prayer then that is a very good sign. I see happy people with Faith and pride in their pictures. These men look good in their Fez attire. We need to look at these American Muslims as good people first. Let us hope this lone gunman was self-radicalized by the internet and not this Mosque.

The shooter in Baton Rouge? The one who shot the cops or the cop who shot the guys in the vehicle because he was a coward?

In the first few centuries AD the Universal Church allowed the use of Allah to be used for the word G-d. Allah is the god of Islam. It is just not the G-d of the word made flesh. I suspect, there is on going confusion about the use of the word.
Peace.
Peace.
