Okay here we go again. We were in Germany before the Cold War ended. The Berlin Wall came down and we were friends with Russia.
We never really trusted Russia because they are back an forth on the politics like we are in the US. So we pull a major amount of our troops out and close bases. When I left Germany they said our base was going to be housing for refugees, I don't know what happened because I never been back there. So now we want to go back to Germany and place our troops over there again. That means getting bases back again and spending allot of money that the US doesn't need to spend. Let's see. Let's pay 35 million for on jet cut out a MOS and cut troops to pay for it. Let's get new uniforms again and get the prisons to make them at basically free labor charge and charge our military members a pay check or two if you are and E4 and below to get new uniforms and let's change them every seven to ten years. Let's spend a little extra on defense spending and let's take it from the veterans funding to pay for it. This is just and example of the pattern of how I see things going on with the government.

SSG Leo Bell - I was there 1988-1990. Those bases are gone. Only division headquarters and places like that may have survived. I was stationed in Gelnhausen, it was closed and reclaimed by late 1992, many others meet the same fate. We would have to start from scratch, and land values in Germany are far too pricey for that to even think of a congressionally funded "Feasibility" study is necessary, but the idiots will try. Our mission, should we choose to accept it, and we must, is to slap those dumb, greedy, political hands away from the "Ways and Means" committee at every possible opportunity. It is long past overdue for the rest of NATO to protect and Defend their own fucking backyard

SSG (Join to see) - Amen brother especially the last part. I know I was a 13N from 1990 -1992 over there in Chrialshiem and Herzo base. When we went to the field with the track vehicles and would tear up the grass I would hear my SFC Poole saying stop tearing up the grass so fucking back with that thrash vehicle it costing the US government like 18 a squar inch that you tear up. I know both of my old bases are gone. Chrialshiem was pretty new at that.

With a little repair and remodeling they should be able to reopen a few of those bases they closed. I know Ayers Kaserne just outside of Kirchgoens in the Butzbach area has many of the original barricks still standing. Other building would have to be torn down and rebuilt. Good thing about Ayers Kaserne is the rail head.
A bit further South is Harvey Barracks outside of Kitzingen in the Wertzberg area. (Butchered the town name.)
Harvey has an airstrip and a railhead. I just don't know the status of that old post or its facilities.
