The one good thing about Franco's Spain is that they kept there German licensed fighter planes and bombers decades after Hitler was wiped out and that equipment was used later to make great movies like The Battle of Britain with actual Spanish Air Force planes some with Hispano Suiza engines that looked almost like the original German counterparts..https://youtu.be/cNVVoH9-QH0

When I lived in San Francisco there were a few veterans of the Brigades still around. You realize that this was Fascists vs Communists.Franco sent two divisions to fight in Russia. The Soviets were pissed about that until Franco died

Franco also didn't allow German troops access to Spain in order to attack British Gibraltar. Franco wasn't a "good guy" but he wasn't completely in Hitler's pocket. NATO didn't allow Spain to join that organization until after Franco died.
