The success of "Dunkirk" is proof that the World War II myth machine is still alive and well

That is a strange discussion title PO1 Tony Holland The Movie Dunkirk was successful because it most likely struck a chord with movie goers. Heinz Guderian wanted to drive the British into the Ocean; but, Adolph Hitler held his panzers back. The British left most of their equipment behind but were extract most of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) from the beaches because the Luftwaffe hesitated long enough for many of the water craft which was mobilized to bring the BEF back to England.
After Hitler realized that he let the BEF get back to England he gave Herman Goring authorization to decimate England with the Luftwaffe. Of course the Battle of Britain worked out much differently that Hitler of Goring hoped it would.
