And I could understand that people were more comfortable being with their own ethnic group no matter what it was.(we had about 5, I believe). I was with a Airman of the opposite gender who was of mix of

( I know enough where not to touch unless they move my hand there themselves. ). She told the Sgt.-at-Arms she was me and pointed my way.. He told her s’thing and from what I gather it wasn’t good. I asked her and he said she shouldn’t of come in with me.. I’m not one to place the “race card”. But if that’s what they want...
Her and I had left there, I asked her where her Sqdn was and she was attached to 60th ABGP like I was.. she was at base finance office . Her barracks were in a fenced compound with 4 other female barracks . It was a cyclone fence with Redwood fencing on the outside . The women had a key card to get in.. So J took her there and thanked her again for the half a dance.. We need to file the appropriate paperwork on this.. I was no longer p.o.’d at that Airman that cut in but that Sgt-at-Arms . It seems he thought her and I provoked the sit-rep... I had late shift Sunday and early Monday.. I’ll go Monday Afternoon after I get off

Got to my 1SGT. & Cmdr., The Lt. Of Food Svc , the CMSGT and e’body else but yours truly; me ! The Lt. Called me in her office.. we talked about 45 minutes.. she read the report that Sgt.-at-Arms wrote up. She wanted to hear my side.. The Creole Airman had told 1SGT her side... It appeared she’d laid ou the story pretty good. While explain’g my side, The Lt. Got a call from the 1SGT. The Lt. Hung up and told me they didn't need my statement.. I could write it out and she’d type it for me(Our clerk was gone for the day... So I printed out as to what happened.. and left it with the Lt....
turns out later base legal did want my version.. The Cmdr thought the
Creole Airman’s was enough..
in the end of it all.. The SGT-at-Arms handled it wrong.. insinuating we provoked the sit-rep.. It looked to me he was back’g a brother... like he done no wrong..
Base legal and e’body else were on my side.. it was time for a TDY.. mine.. the last 2 weeks of October and 1st 2 of November I was going to Fort Lee, Va. for a 4 week baker advance field course... let things cool down ... That Airman that touched her was charged with assault. He countered that against
Her.. Judge Adv. and his counsel made a deal.. He had that slap coming .. if he let it slide, They’d reduce his time at correctional
Custody to 6 weeks.. knock his fine down to half-pay for three months instead of 6. And only reduced to Airman instead of AIrman basic.
I didn’t heve to testify, they just read my dissertation.. His court martial was held to middle of December.. I was already on leave
For PCS. His counsel accepted
My dissertation.. the fool could of got off with a Art. 15. and suspended bust for 6 months. And a small amount of fine. His barrack lawyer buds told him to fight it

Love notes in the Mail. I had Pentagon Fed Credit Union for my pay account.. I split up and sent an allotment to my Reserve acc’t at my local credit union.. I had by chance my Mom on My account they looked at it as me on her account..
some stupid rule about having 2 Credit union acc’ts. In my own name. Something the bank People Came up with. I didn’t need much in my Pentagon Acc’t(half of my pay).. I spent very little.. Got my room in bungalow broke into.. got a nasty note(that's how they got caught). $@@&¥£€Why couldn’t I keep more $$ in my room €£¥£%#!

Thailand.. my pay account was credited with $3.50 no taxes taken out. Finance asked me how I wanted it.. My checks were already rounded out.. so I said just send it home.. no, it’s got to stay. Ok add .50 to each check until the $3.50 is gone.. 7 checks.. .. You like making it hard Airman?... you already round my check to nearest ... it’s not that hard Sarge ! You got a big hairy computer doing it for you!.. I’ll be glad to get back stateside.. i’d Put on SSGT 6 months ago.. Already had a go-around over that , base was getting flack from PACAF that not enough Sgts of a certain ethnic group being promoted to SSGT. Three in our Squadron specifically.

and that was what their line numbers were for... He refused to promote any earlier.. their TIGs, TIS’s , APRs all falling line.. it’d be unfair to the NCOs that scored higher.. end of story,..... NOT !
Cmdr got called away on a TDY.. somehow got hung up at Hickham.
For a month.. PACAF called and was going over the Base.. ordered the admin officer to promote those certain people to SSGT. He said “F it, I ets in a month, what are The gonna do.. shave my head and send me to ‘Nam?”... “No sir, extend you 6 months and Send you go Qena, Egypt !” The clerk stated.. “ I’ve already been extended here.” He replied. The clerk liked “F-Ing with the Lt. They were both from Upstate N.Y. by Albany.. “Are you staying in Sgt,” asked the LT. “No Sir getting out and going Air Guard.. going to fly a desk there and go to college.. got 2 years left... I was Air Guard before.. AF was desperate for “experienced titless WAFs”. So I signed on, picked up Sergeant and here I am, Sir!”... (oh yeah, pardon the improper title it was long before political correctness in the AF..). ..
When the early promotions for those 3 came I. The Lt filed them
In the bottom drawer in a folder with a ? Mark on them. The clerk told me. The clerk rotated when I did in July. The Cmdr’s TDY(?) was postponed. He returned just as I left.. Good Luck Cmdr !.. the clerk and I rotated out of there ... We got to Clark AB and with his connections we were out of there in 2-1/2 hours instead of sweating until 03-dark-30 in the morn’g in that terminal with no working fans.
We went Japan and supposed to hit Alaska.. got a nice wind into Travis.
Sgt C. Got his flight moved to 2 in the Afternoon out of LAX, and 1030 out of Frisco. We were both on the same bus to Frisco by 0745 hours I got my. Ticket fixed right there at the bus plaza, so did he.. at 0910 we were flying to LAX . His ticket got moved closer to 1205 take off to LaGuardia . 2200 to Albany..
for me; was going to be a 1day delay and go to my Uncle’s V.F.W. Meeting that evening. take my obligation, have a refreshment and go to his home and get a few hours sleep and be on the plane by 1000 to DTW(Detroit Metro, Wayne County) I seen they wanted to change to DTR(Detroit metro Romulus). Another city has DTR. ...
I had already an Armed Forces expeditionary for a Deploy to Thailand that I had forgotten to mention when in Reserves .. missed some school in March April and May of ‘71. I’m glad I had that two years previous Summer school to fall back on.. I got a little flack at first because it was Reserves I got it in. They hunted their org. Manual of procedure.. The Vietnam ribbon was not recognized until ‘78 when Vietnam was changed from a police action to a war. They seemed to had trouble
Because for where the expeditionary was awarded.. It doesn’t matter .. it’s wherever it was. Issued for. In this case at TakhLi, Thailand.. it came back, I was correct.. there seemed among the old guys a hostility toward ‘Nam
Vets. I had joined My Uncle’s Post under the expeditionary Medal .
Later I transferred to my Post in Westland, Mi under the ‘Nam
Medal. My Reserve unit wanted to premptively change my expeditionary to the Nam Medal..
in December of ‘77..oh no please change it after congress declares Vietnam is a War in ‘78. Then I don’t care, change now and i’m Out of the V.F.W... gee, it’s only a month..
you guys don’t understand how
V.F.W. Works.. my old Reserve 1SGT did.. He had the same expeditionary Medal..for the same sitrep. He belonged too, I got him signed up. So we got left alone with several others I got signed up from my wing . Some transferred to other posts later.
And all this came on from a dance with a pretty Creole -American Female Airman...
