MAJ Hugh Blanchard
Jumping is "interesting" enough, but imagine it with folks shooting at you from the ground.

If I was in the Airborne, I suppose i'd have to make this jump, and just hope I'd live trough it.

MAJ Hugh Blanchard
Getting that "mustard stain" on your wings is a pretty big deal, I've served with a few people who had that combat jump device. We also have my late father-in-law's Class A uniform, and he had a bunch of awards. One of his European Theater awards included an Expeditionary Spearhead from landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. This after surviving Pearl Harbor. He was quite a soldier.

I know this was much worse landing on this beach, than the time I spent in Vietnam.
