"The Song Remains the Same" Except China is now a big enough power house to join the Party. Flexing that Military Muscle. No real surprise. The Chinese have made a lot of money investing in the United States and got to spend it somehow and Military Systems are always popular. I wonder how long before one our Ships catches a Chinese Sub under Golden Gate Bridge just like the California caught that Russian in 94.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Thanks for your service and I am sure the prepostionied warstocks both floating and not at Diego Garcia and elswehere will be used soon since we are asleep and stoned at the wheel during this extreme drawdown and using cash- short budgets on black holes like the F-35 singularity sucking $160 billion so far away from better aircraft and procurement.

LTC (Join to see) - Sometimes Tried and True is better than New and Fancy, B-52 comes to mind. Best Radio Receiver I got to play with ever was the R-390 Old WWII Antique with Tubes that took 24 hours just to warm up the Crystal in the Oven but man oh man talk about Sensitivity. There was no RF Signal I couldn't listen too.

DEFCON 3[edit]
Yom Kippur War[edit]
On October 6, 1973, Egypt and Syria launched a joint attack on Israel resulting in the Yom Kippur War. The U.S. became concerned that the Soviet Union might intervene, and on October 25, U.S. forces, including Strategic Air Command, Continental Air Defense Command, European Command and the Sixth Fleet, were placed at DEFCON 3. Over the following days, the various forces reverted to normal status with the Sixth Fleet standing down on November 17.[11]
Operation Paul Bunyan[edit]
Following the axe murder incident at Panmunjom on August 18, 1976, readiness levels for American forces in South Korea were increased to DEFCON 3, where they remained throughout Operation Paul Bunyan which followed thereafter.[12]
September 11 attacks[edit]
During the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld ordered the increased DEFCON level to 3, and also a stand-by for a possible increase to DEFCON 2. That eventuality, however, did not come to pass.[13]

GySgt John Olson - I purposely put it from Dr. Strangelove just for fun and show. I wonder what the retired Major Kongs would say if still alive today!

I fear the ongoing events in the South China Sea will one day be written in a book much like that in the "Guns of August". Underestimating, misconceptions, miscalculations, and divergence in policy usually leads to beating the war drums.
