Sound policy. Countries that don't support us don't get our money. Why pay those who oppose us?

LCDR (Join to see) - Not how it has worked in the past. New Sheriff in town and he is going to remind them the capital of Israel is Israel's choice, not the UN.

LCDR (Join to see) - According to who? In some cases, that is exactly how "geopolitics" work. There are many methods to achieve desired diplomatic response. Coercion is one of them. (Unless you proscribe, exclusively, to the B. Obama school on foreign policy)

Poor Donald. So used to buying people off that he can’t comprehend why it doesn’t always work with foreign governments. And he clearly fails to understand the complexities of international politics. Go ahead and cut off foreign aid to Egypt. It won’t take long for the Russians and Chinese to fill the gap. Cut off aid to other countries and see how quickly they expel US troops from our bases and raise a Russian flag over it instead. Maybe someone will finally be able to get him to realize that we spend that aid overseas for our national interests, not simply to help out other countries out of the goodness of our hearts.
As for the threats, remember how the WH put Iran on notice about their missile tests? Didn’t stop much did it. And remember when Trump said that another Korean ICBM test would result in fire and fury? How many tests have they done since then? The world knows that Trump is full of empty bluster.

He's always been a bully.......and now he is trying to bully the world.......including long time allies. Realizing who Trump is.......and the way he has conducted himself his entire adult life.....this comes as no surprise.

I think you have who is the bully backwards. Other nations get our money to be friends with us and many allies use our money and military to protect themselves. How many countries in NATO put the required 4% GDP into their military and how much do we put? All Trump is doing is saying no more free rides on the US, hardly a bully.

If you think giving aid to allied nations isn't in our own best interest, you might want to study strategy a bit more. We don't give money to other nations to be nice or because they vote with us.

It's because their defense and stability are our best interest. It doesn't require them to be especially friendly to benefit us. Nixing that over a non-issue is a hasty and rash maneuver.
