CMSgt (Join to see) - Well, green feet appear all over the place when you trample on the guys that save your @$$. In Valdosta GA near Moody AFB there is a billboard that says Moody AFB home of the words greatest fighter pilots...one mile down the road the other one says Moody AFB home of XX Rescue Group, Rescuing and saving the worlds greatest fighter pilots!

Back in the mid 80's, around 1987 if I remember correctly. A sea going tug 1100 miles off the California coast had a fire and several of the crew had been severely burned. An Air Guard CH53 was fitted with extended range tanks, flew to a Japanese freighter who had responded to the distress call, and the injured men were stabilized in flight. The carrier I was on diverted to meet the Stallion as they didn't have the fuel to make it back to land. The helicopter landed for refueling and went home. The injured were transferred to our sick bay for additional treatment. Once done, they were flown out by a C2 Greyhound to the mainland.
