This is great news. My position working for the Defense Department at the time involved the f-15. I am glad to see that the next budget request will include them.

LTC (Join to see) that may be true but at some point you have to say It is better to be good with what you got then to have better stuff you're not good with.

Brad Powers really it may seem crazy to say that but the human brain and spirit is far more advanced and complicated than any technology man can create.

Brad Powers if it works, don't fix it! Can always have the F-35 in the F-22 defend the A-10 Warthog when it's destroying tanks on the ground.

It's still a good airframe and more than capable of defeating planes of its generation. It's not as stealthy as the F-35 and F-22, but it has a good radar and in areas where we have established our air superiority it will help to maintain that superiority.

That said, it is very hard for an F-15 to compete with an F-22. The F-22 (solo) can take out a sortie of F-15's before they even know it's there and when you have multiple stealth planes datalinking information to each other, the fight gets even more lopsided.

Perhaps if we were to develop radar technology that unmasks stealth planes at longer ranges (through higher power beams and longer wavelengths that aren't as easily deflected or absorbed) and put it on the F-15 (if that's even possible), the F-15 would have more of a chance against the latest generation of fighters.
