First ones into a new business are the tech people, the last ones out are the tech people. Skilled tradesmen make more on the hour than line production workers. The work is more interesting, it's not always fun(changing bearings in a screw conveyor that transports turkey waste to a dumpster), though it is satisfying. Most skilled tradesmen make enough that their wives get to stay home with the kids if that is their choice.
