I believe in prayers and answered blessings too. Kind of a long story and not military related. Last week one of my cats went missing and I thought he was was gone for good because I searched everywhere and couldn't find him. I prayed for a week and still couldn't find him.
After a long week of not finding him, I said another prayer then something very mysterious happened. Since my cat Bandit likes the sound of crinkling bags (it means yummy people treats), I was using a bag of Fritos to entice him out of wherever he was hiding. I went up and down the street asking neighbors and looking in their yards. Three people saw him during the week, but nobody knew where he went. Then that bag of Fritos vanished. I looked every place I had been for that bag because it was the only thing I had to get his attention.
Since Bandit was still hiding somewhere, and I checked everywhere for that bag of Fritos, I decided to check out back of my friend's building (Bandit was visiting there). I didn't find the Frito bag, but I heard a cat meowing the same way Bandit does. He's a Siamese who likes the sound of his own voice. I looked everywhere and he just appeared above where i was looking. I checked that entire area before and never saw him and he wasn't there when I first arrived. Very strange.
I think God must have hidden that bag of Fritos somewhere so I would keep looking and maybe had me go to that location so I would find him at that moment. I checked every other place several times and it had been a week of looking and asking neighbors. He's home now and that is the last time he goes outside. I took him to the vet and she said he lost some weight, but all tests were negative. He's over 14 years old so I have to be overprotective of him.

Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity. ~Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Have you done your best to be prepared? Do you know what is needed so that when the opportunity occurs you are ready to go? Be alert and mindful, often the opportunities seen as luck are fleeting and require swift action. Doesn't matter whether this is in business, the military or volunteer efforts. The better prepared you are, the more successful you will be (and others will call it luck)

So going to go with Jefferson and his hidden message- "I'm a great believer in luck, I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." We are all in control somewhat of the luck we can create- hard work and dedication pays off- it may take a while but it pays off. Integrity and honor are also great attributes to add in- they also "create" luck and a reputation. Great Wednesday starter COL Mikel J. Burroughs. Luck of the Irish from me to you and yours today sir.

Maj Marty Hogan
LTC (Join to see) perfect analogy and way to look at it. I consider myself lucky for opportunities at the right time...what happens after is a result of my hard work and determination.
