Three strikes was one of the worst laws ever and all it did primarily affect minorities and the poor. https://www.aclu.org/other/10-reasons-oppose-3-strikes-youre-out
10 Reasons to Oppose "3 Strikes, You're Out"
10 Reasons to Oppose "3 Strikes, You're Out" The American public is alarmed about crime, and with good reason. Our crime rate is unacceptably high, and many Americans feel like prisoners in their own homes, afraid to venture out for fear of becoming another statistic.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS - Maybe I should've used the crack vs cocaine laws and how the sentences were so far apart, it was unreal. Charlie Sheen known cokehead should've been doing real time using the three strikes law in it's pure form. Then I'll use me, I'm Joe Nobody crackhead, gets pinched the third time and I am doing life. Same laws....completely different enforcement. Now both of us would be doing time in rehabs, his celeb rehab, me a "rehab" joint on top of a strip club owned by a local drug dealer......

SSG Warren Swan - Exactly so. "Disproportionate" due to nuanced writing. The law itself wasn't "inherently" racist. The enforcement wasn't "inherently" racist. But man if the effects didn't have that "net result." And at the end of the day that's what mattered.
It's like Heroin and Oxycontin. Same friggin thing.
