The Declaration of Independence is not law. It is a declaration of the purpose of government and the right of all peoples to replace governments that fail in their purpose. It then enumerates the failures of the British king that allow the colonists to break away and form a new government of their own.
The Constitution provides the framework for a republican form of government. Only one Amendment provides the basis of citizenship with full rights of citizenship for newly freed slaves (and this one Amendment has been grossly misapplied).
There are specific laws defining citizenship and enumerating paths to citizenship, however, none of these have anything to do with what is going on. It is a distraction.
The real problem is that We the People have lost faith in the integrity of our elections. Not all of US, but a significant portion.
Several lawsuits were filed following the 2000 election of Joe Biden, but none got anywhere. Those who hate President Trump (and they are legion) are quick to claim that the failure of these lawsuits prove that the election was fair and honest. Another legion of voters descry the failure of these lawsuits as further proof of the lose of integrity in those agencies charged with the conduct of elections.
It is unlikely that we will settle the issue here. It is unlikely that the issue will be settled anywhere, anytime so long as passions rule the legions. Sadly, I will hunker down and prepare for the coming conflict which may be brutal.

So why do so many of us swear an oath to defend the constitution if it is only a bunch of suggestions?

CPL Douglas Chrysler - Who said anything about suggestions? The Declaration declares our right to establish a government "...to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." Prior to this, governments were "instituted" by force (divine, physical, or any other means). Lacking that right, we couldn't have crafted the Constitution. The Constitution laid the foundation for our republican form of government based on limited powers wielded by a government with three branches balancing the administration of those powers. Where are the "suggestions" in that?
