Vice Admiral Timothy "T.J." White, commander, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. TENTH Fleet, spoke with the Sailors and Civilians of NCTAMS LANT Thursday, Mar. 5.
In his address and when answering questions, White emphasized the value of maritime communications and personnel.
“Don’t underestimate what you do – it is critical to the defense of our country. As Admiral Gilday, our CNO, has said, ‘there are no maritime operations without the ability to communicate," said White. “What you do every day makes the fleet lethal and survivable. Every day, anytime.”
The admiral also emphasized what he calls the Navy's greatest comparative advantage: our people.
"Information systems technician (IT) is the second largest rating in the Navy. You're not the front line of defense - you are 'everywhere' on offense!"
NCTAMS LANT provides information superiority to the warfighter through the operation and defense of computer and telecommunications systems.
U.S. Fleet Cyber Command reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations as an Echelon II command and is responsible for Navy information network operations, offensive and defensive cyberspace operations, space operations and signals intelligence.

Excellent Informational Intelligence Shares PO1 William “Chip” Nagel!

Too often the personnel ‘behind the scenes’ are ‘forgotten’ or ‘overlooked’ due to their physical location or their actual duties while serving on Active Duty in the US Military.
Nice to see this Commander recognize & validate the importance of these Brave Men & Women.
Personnel in these fields (cyber security, Intelligence, Information, Signals, etc. ARE Definitely Mission Essential!

‘Spooks’ have proved, beyond a reasonable doubt, their importance in Mission Accomplishment!

Just My Two Cents...
