Headquarters, United States Army Transportation Corps Regiment
Fort Lee, VA 23801

Distinguished Members of the Regiment Panel Members:

It is my distinct honor and privilege to nominate SFC Joe S Davis as a Distinguished Member of the Regiment candidate. As a previous Regimental CSM, I have had the privilege to work with many of our Corps best and brightest Noncommissioned Officers but feel compelled to single out SFC Davis for this distinction. His biography and resume are a study in selfless service and commitment to the Transportation Corps throughout his 25 years of service. Entering the military in 1989, SFC Davis always sought the tough jobs and always found his way to the point where history was being made, whether it was in Haiti for humanitarian purposes or in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq. When he was forward deployed, he was always the leader and mentor even as a key cadre member for Task Force 6 within their Convoy Logistics Patrol Academy.

His service and awards jacket speak volumes as to his capability and level of commitment to the units he has been assigned to as reflected by such items as the Valor Unit Award, Joint Meritorious Unit award to include individual awards that are rarely seen such as the French Commando Badge, Combat Action Badge, and NATO International Security Assistance Force Metal to name a few. While in Garrison, his pursuit of excellence was equally noteworthy as he sought out courses to develop war fighting skills such as the Army Master Resiliency Trainer Course, the Personal Security Detail Course, the Counter Intelligence Course (COIN), as well as Drill Sergeant and Airborne assignments.
When not honing leadership skills and war fighting craft, SFC Davis still found the time to develop critical thinking earned while attending universities to complete Associates, Bachelors, and Master’s degrees which increased his human capital. Equally so, he has not forgotten his faith while fulfilling his commitments by remaining a faithful member at his Baptist Church, thus serving as a role model for both his Soldiers and children.

In closing, SFC Davis has always been a loyal and committed member of the Transportation Corps, never seeking easy duties when a hard job was at hand. His leadership skills and attributes are a testament to the type of mentor he has been to our Corps by exemplifying the values and principles that has made us the “Spearhead of Logistics” and I wholeheartedly recommend this panel induct him as a Distinguished Member of the Regiment without further delay.
The point of contact for this nomination is the undersigned at (757) XXX-XXXX.
