What happens when a US Air Force Reservist an A1C takes charge?

For his swift actions on 04 June 2020 on the steps of Lincolin Memorial A1C Santiago Martinez received the Meritorous Service Medal for saving a civilian life.

Backstory: I first met A1C Martinez in the fall of 2018 at the opening of the Premire Health Express Clinic (PHEC) in Columbia, MD. Santi as those who know him weel like to call him in married with a wonderful family and huge dreams with a heart to match. His compassion for people especially his fellow veterans is unmatched in my humble opinion. When the world thrashes down in chaos, Santiago hunkersdown and gets serious about solving real-world problems like saving lives and doing the right thing. Now he lives in Florida and helps other veterans. He helps deliver COVID shots to them and does so much more.

I share his story because it is a standard of service and excellence that few do in the unselfish manner inwhich he carries himself since I have been honored to know him. Please read carefully his attached citation for someone so junior in rank.

Also, while we, as we should those who have recieved the nation's highest honor, I wounder how important it should also be to work to elevate those very junior on platforms like RP so that other past or presently serving know the content of this Airman's character.

Just saying...............................

Respectfully,

Nate

Thank you my friend CPO Nate S. for posting what happens when USAFR Airman First Class Santiago Martinez Jr. takes change in assisting a collapsed jogger while on duty during a during a civil unrest mission
Kudos to Maj. Telisha Johnson, Capt. Lauren Sutherland, Chief Master Sgt. Mark Nicholas, Staff Sgt. Emanuel Morales, Staff Sgt. Jacen Vaughan and Airman 1st Class Santiago Martinez Jr. for their quick response to aid the collapsed jogger.
Six members of the Air National Guard were presented Meritorious Service Medals during a ceremony at the Pentagon Aug. 19, for their heroic efforts that saved a person’s life at the Lincoln Memorial June 4.

Maj. Telisha Johnson, Capt. Lauren Sutherland, Chief Master Sgt. Mark Nicholas, Staff Sgt. Emanuel Morales, Staff Sgt. Jacen Vaughan and Airman 1st Class Santiago Martinez Jr. during a civil unrest mission responded to a cry for help in Washington, D.C. The Airmen rushed to the scene where they found an unconscious jogger lying on the ground, face down, gasping for air with a weakening pulse. They immediately assessed the situation, performed CPR and would determine the use of an automated external defibrillator was necessary to save the jogger’s life.
