Just want to see how small the world is. When the 7th ID left Ft Ord for Ft Lewis, there was a ~6 month window when all the TMDE was turned in to clear Property Books before the move. If you were one of the soldiers from your unit that had the responsibility of collecting it and bringing it to the Cal Shop, we've talked Face to Face. I was the Sgt at the window with all the paper work. Some of you even got angry. I was following the regs. Sorry you had to go back to your shop and find that one dosimeter, or torque wrench. I couldn't clear it from the book until I had it in hand. My OC is part of why I was put in that place to begin with, OC is a valuable trait in my MOS, and we're all a little strange. No, I wasn't going to sign off now, and you bring it back later.
Were any of you the people I dealt with?

I never dealt with TMDE until I became a company XO in the National Guard. I ETS'd from Ord in May of 1992.

When I left Ft. Ord in 1977, I was turning in my equipment and the person stated several of the items were dirty and they would not except them. When we got to the end of the line, the person was in a rush and asked if everything was cleared and the person walking me through said yes and I ended up with my Alice Pack and frame and several other items which I still have today. I was going to say something, but the NCO with me told me to shut up.

I ended up with a field pillow some how. I wish I still had ALICE and the Webbing.

Good for you Brother Gordon!! When I was leaving Nam, I was going to bring my Kabar knife home with me and just before we boarded the plane HOME an MP got out in front of us all and announced that if anybody had any Military equipment in our bags to get it out and put it in this big drum, about the size of a 55 gallon drum but not one, and if anybody got caught with anything it would delay their flight. Man, I didn't want to stay for one more minute, so I gave it up and then nobody even checked out bags. I was pissed!!
