Good. It didn't find its way on to that flag based on good intentions. It was added in 1894 amid other efforts to suppress the black population from having economic or political power.

Yes the Governor that added that to a flag was a former COL in the Confederacy and probably sympathized with the Lost Cause movement. Gen Grant was right and stated before he died he should have rubbed more of the Confederacy's nose in their defeat and a lot of that post war nonsense probably would have been avoided. You would have thought burning a few Southern Cities to the ground would have sent a message they were losing the war and not because they were allowing it to happen.
