This is so wrong. So very wrong. We have truly become the Mansion of Madness where the lunatics run the asylum. These are not Confederates. They're not even men. They're dead. Whatever happened to let them rest in peace? Hating the dead is no better than hating the living.

Just because THIS story is not true does not mean that your observation on our current National plight is incorrect. Sad times, Jack.

I agree with your thoughts on this sir. Sure its a fake story but at this point doesnt sound like much of stretch that at some point in the future someone will propose an idiot idea like this. Its like that ESPN story about that one sports caster who's name just so happens to be Robert Lee and they moved him from a coverage on University of VA College Game to not offend anyone. Talk about irony. CPT Jack Durish

Bingo. Fake news or not, satire or not, I wouldn't put it past the PC Thought Police to attempt something like this for real someday.

The "Delaware Ohio News" is a self-proclaimed "satire publication." Story is, thank Goodness, not a real story.

I somehow didn't think it could be true, certainly hoped not. Destroying or disturbing a grave is a crime no matter who is buried there. No individual private or government has any right to engage in any act that disturbs anyone's grave. To do so they have committed a criminal act which I find disgusting. Any disturbance of walls around a graveyard, headstones or even worse grave deserves punishment to the full extent of the law. Be this satire, or call it humor, its isn't funny at all but it is completely lacking in any class or humor. There are things that are NOT humor and this is one of them !

I usually don't say to much about this stuff but this has gone above and beyond complete reason.

History and heritage is a strong component to the foundation of our foundation of this country and everything that came along with the freedoms we have. The preservation of the heritage and historical education is something that should never be treated like a dirty secret to be hidden away or changed.

We should keep the good and the bad, the ugly, and the truths. But not to overshadow or lose the forgotten small victories or the fact that we fought for the right to be free ourselves from the British, as many fought for their own freedoms against many others who have risen to take power away from those who didn't matter as much as their own.
We forget about the importance of our own and we are making our own path of distraction and distruction instead of banding as Americans and showing that we are the strong and have overcome the bullshit, but here we are, creating our own category 6 shit storm.
We have forgotten about our lost soldiers, still lost. We have forgotten about our current soldiers, volunteering to fight and die for this country. Our veterans, who have been through some of the worst of human treatment and keep their respect and love despite it all. And yet, we are fighting over who's lives matter more. Who feels offended just because there is a statue of Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville and on Monument Ave in Richmond?
We are seriously making a public nuisance and potential dangerous situation over a statue of a man who technically is a part of our American history. You can't change the past and you can't change the fact that the civil war happened.
But keeping the facts, bad and good, won't change American history or the education from being there because everyone has a right to know their backgrounds, heritage, culture.
We keep that away, especially like this, and during this time of rising global violence and pending war, then we are no better than the tyranny that came before us and did the same to our ancestors.
So, I ask for your consideration to look at the panoramic view around you. Open your eyes and think about what our current America is becoming.
We should be better than this but before long, we won't have a history of our own to carry on. As a veteran and proud Richmond daughter, this is one of the most important things to me, to see my family and their respect and their sacrifices since the beginning of the Henricus Militia to be lost.
Every soldier deserves to be found and marked, every battle and battlefield deserves to be found and marked and those who fought deserve to be laid at rest properly. Every bullet, button, belt buckle, from the first war to the last war deserves to be put on display and taken away from the private dealers, on-line and auctions.
Our past doesn't belong to the highest bidder and it doesn't belong to a collector, it belongs to the people and the history does too.
We take advantage of what we have and forget about those who forged the path for ease and freedoms and it's time to make up for those misgivings.

Sorry about all the words and long windedness, but hell bells. This is pretty damn disgusting and stupid and we should try to take care of more serious matters at hand and leave our soldiers in peace.
