The battle group I was a member of, the USS Ranger's carrier group relieved the Connie's group later that fall. We had just left port from San Diego a week or so before this event.

I'm glad you're affiliated with this event. The iranian pilot and his r e o are lucky that we had equipment failure.

LTC (Join to see) We had two events involving Iranians. The first was in 1985. They were paying yard workers and tried to get civilian employees to steal F14 repair parts off our ship. The Iranians and some US citizens were caught.

Then in late October or early November 1987, an Iranian F14 too off from Bandar Abbas air field. We scrambled two F14's and the Iranian fighter turned around and landed quickly.
