I expect you are tough enough to say no and wise and compassionate enough not to add insult to injury Robert.
I pray that you and I are wise and spiritually mature enough to answer requests for our time, talent and or/treasure thoughtfully and promptly, my brother-in-Christ Maj Robert Thornton.
Thank you, LORD for YOUR Word. You made it clear that we need to be wise and truthful in communication especially when promising or making a vow – including wedding vows “Again, you have heard that the ancients were told, ‘YOU SHALL NOT MAKE FALSE VOWS, BUT SHALL FULFILL YOUR VOWS TO THE LORD.’ … “But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; and anything beyond these is of evil." [Matthew 5:33-37] NASB]
I pray LORD that YOU each one of YOUR adopted sons and daughters: to mourn with those mourning, rejoice with the rejoicing; be gentle, ne merciful, hunger for righteousness, be pure in heart and be peacemakers. I pray LORD that our light shines ‘before men in such a way that they may see our good works and glorify our Heavenly Father who is in heaven.’ [Matthew 5:1-10,16 NASB]
I lift each of YOUR adopted son and daughter to YOU dear God. I pray that we are demonstrate our faith in YOU by treating each person we interact with respect. I pray for wisdom and discernment to say yes and no purposefully and to know when explanation is required. Empower us to demonstrate respectful and firm behavior in front of our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as the young in the faith.
I lift governments which are confused with proper boundaries or are deliberately exploiting made-up-boundaries for ill-gotten gains. I pray dear God that YOU shine a light on the corrupt leaders of the so-called sanctuary cities, those who withhold water from farms and families when it is within their power to release the water and corrupt officials elsewhere. I pray that YOU bring conviction on as many as YOU are willing and enable the constituents of each to see corruption and empower many to take action without violence to bring positive change.
I pray that each one of YOUR adopted children and their loved ones sleep well Thursday night.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good Thursday morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs! from my home office in a still dark Fort Myers, FL Just turned on my laptop and poof there was you post! I will try to do it justice this morning. Have a great day my friend! Today is: “Saying No Day!” Why Not?
1) 'No' puts distance between you and the wrong influence." - Jim Rohn
2) "One of the most painfully inauthentic ways we show up in our lives sometimes is saying "yes" when we mean "no," and saying "no" when we mean "hell yes." - Brené Brown
3) "Saying No gains you respect. When you say No, the other person may feel disappointed. But ultimately, they will respect you for taking good care of yourself. And most of all, you'll respect yourself because you are being true to yourself!" - Doreen Virtue
4) "And it comes from saying no to 1,000 things to make sure we don't get on the wrong track or try to do too much. We're always thinking about new markets we could enter, but it's only by saying no that you can concentrate on the things that are really important." - Steve Jobs
“Sometimes ‘saying no’ is one of the tough decisions that leaders have to make, but they have to understand how powerful that can be instead of being a ‘yes’ leader!“ — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs
