hmmm... been there. non-technical project manager telling the engineer to undo a fix that got the software WORKING because it added a sleep(0) thereby forcing a context switch.
i (er, the engineer) told the project manager they weren't qualified to make the judgement. the fix stayed, the software worked, i was fired.
