More from; "Out of the Mouth of Seniors:"
Nothing like a Natural Disaster to get your friends to call. I have had several phone calls, and a bunch of emails. All asking if me and my family are okay. If the "Bomb Cyclone" is doing any damage to our neck of the woods.
And that doesn't even count Family that has called to see if a) are we alright?
b) Do we need anything? c) Can we help?
You know, I really don't like Natural Disasters in any of their iterations, but boy oh boy, does it bring out the best in us old fogies.

SGT Kevin Hughes That's great when we come together during disasters but...we need to keep in contact and check on each other other times also! It's great to hear from a friend we haven't heard from in a while for no real reason.

Just yesterday I got a call out of nowhere from a former member of this site, @Maj Ken Landgren. It was great to hear from him (even though we are on opposite sides of the fence when it comes to politics). We just agreed to keep that area of our conversations. That sparked my desire to contact a few of my old buddies just to shoot the bull!

Cpl Vic Burk keeping the right perspective on things that really do not matter, in our relationships, preserves our relationships.

SGT Kevin Hughes I hope you and your friend rekindle your friendship. These aspects of politics and the politicians could care less about us as individuals. When they have served enough time to cash out, they are headed towards their family, friends, homes, and vacations . The real people in the equation of you and your life are all broken apart.

PO3 Phyllis Maynard - I could not agree more Phylis. I reached out several times this year...to no avail. Sadly I am now one of the people I know who are in this situation. I have friends who their very own children won't talk with them anymore...and some that won't allow visits with the grandkids. Luckily my Son in Laws and Daughters let ll the in-laws know ...that kids should be kids. So no political rants to kids who are school age. And they stick to that. Argue all you want with adults, but five, eight, ten, twelve and thirteen are fighting their own battles...and don't need your latest outrage to feed them stories.

You made me laugh. My Mom used to say: "After fifty , when someone says: "How are you?' They mean it and are waiting for an answer." Of course, back then, most men were dead in their fifties, and women in their sixties. But us Boomers changed all that. Although Penicillin, Public Heath systems, sewage treatment and clean water - and vaccines for smallpox, measles, chickenpox, polio and TB were all available shortly after the war ...those might have had something to do with it too. LOL Now if someone dies at Seventy we find ourselves saying: "Oh, so young."

From My 81 years In This World, I've Felt As Though When I Reached About 25 -
The Rest Of My 81 Years Have Just Flown By And I Realized It By My Health Deteriorating And Looking Into A Mirror And Seeing An Old Man Looking Back At Me.- Somewhat Depressing, But I Regret Almost Nothing And Have Been Fortunate Enough To Have Truly Lived Life And Taken The Necessary - And A Few Unnecessary Ones Too, Chances & Opportunities To Make It Even Better. - Life's Been Much Better To Me, Than I've Been To It. - And It's Mostly Been One "L" Of A Great Ride With An Abundance Of 100% Pure Luck; When I Return Again, And I Will, I'd Love To Do It All Over, Even Those Few "Bumps In The Road".
