Ozark Outdoorsman YouTube Channel. Title: "This scares me."
Okay, before I get into this post, which I think supports what I said in an earlier post about firing a modern weapon in an Apartment Building or Stick Built home. I want to point out an "aside" comment made near the very end of the video. He said: "I don't want to shoot anybody." And I am glad he made that comment, even tho he loves his guns, his desire is NOT to have to shoot anyone. And the ones that scare me...DO want to shoot someone. And my research is done on this topic. So much to learn. So very much.
So these guys made a bunch of walls- equivalent to modern code. And even the lowly 22 pistol and short round, made it through four walls. And then it got up to Nine walls. Which means If my neighbor shot one of those puppies, it could go through two to three houses before it stopped. So yeah, it turns out my fear of being shot in my own home with no intruder in it...is not far fetched at all.
And when he got to the shotguns and AR type weapons...well, 12 to 15 walls were the norm. As they said: "You better be in a big house, in the tenth bedroom to be safe."
But what I liked the most about them, is as many guns as they own, and as many as they carry...their first thought isn't to kill someone with them. Defense, not offense. And when you realize not everyone thinks like they do...and they still have weapons...well, that is why the Victim is often an innocent bystander.
Thank God most folks appreciate not going full metal jacket at the first provocation ... I have spent about thirty hours now, watching several channels. And my ignorance is simply stunning. I am all for well trained, safety conscious, responsible gun ownerships...and definitely against folks just looking for a chance to prove themselves. I have seen way more of the first kind. But, sadly, to many of the second type. And now I have to fill my walls with sand. And I am going back to cat and dog videos.

I think I am now glad we are in a multistory house with some space between homes...

I suggest a two-story house maybe Brother Kevin. People aren't usually shooting up. Just sayin'.

Kevin, I live in a subdivision of brick homes. In my home all handguns are loaded with hollow points, except one. The one with full metal jacketed rounds is for when I’m deer hunting with a bow. I have encountered many instances of bears where I hunt. I don’t hunt bears but they concern me enough to make sure I have the right ammo to deter them.

I am right with you on the Bear front! I know two people (both Park Rangers) who survived Bear Attacks up in Alaska...and it wasn't pretty. And in both cases, they saved the idiots that caused the bear to attack. And I always admired the tracking and stalking skills of bow hunters. Getting close enough to a Wild animal, to use a bow, takes some real talent.

They always came into the landing at one place where I logged. But I always had my dog with me and between the two of us ran them out.
