Much of the difficulty that a modern "student" might have in passing this test lies in the fact that much of it is predicated on an agrarian society. (The only thing I know about bushel baskets is that we used them to hold our catch when we went crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay. I doubt if many today even know that a bushel is a basket of a certain size) Also, what is humorous is that much of the science that was considered a correct answer in 1895 has been largely disproved in succeeding years. Although, to be fair, our understanding of climate is waning as contemporary "scientists" are replacing facts with ideology. One final thought: Contemporary students would likely be offended by much of this test and stage demonstrations rather than even attempt it. Thus, we'll never know how well they would fare in taking it, would we?

I would be hard pressed to pass this test. IF I passed it, would not be with flying colors and A or B....I would be looking at best, for a D.....

I've seen this before. I would have failed 8th grade! :)
No wonder men in the Navy back then stayed in for 30 or 40 years. They had a steady job!
