I am currently scheduled to attend basic training in May 2020. Depending on how well it goes, I am expecting to graduate in July 2020. In the meantime, I will be attending RSP drills at Camp Parks, Dublin, CA. From what I know the state OCS program is run out of Camp SLO, but I can't seem to find when it starts. I understand that I would need to go to Phase-0 drills there, but do those start immediately after I graduate basic? If so, do I immediately transition to Phase 1 after completing 3 or 4 Phase-0 drills? Appreciate any color on that if anyone has been through this.

Congratulations that you are now going to basic training Shortly. My recollection may be different than what may be given today. Normally you would have a muta 6 (3-day) Drill weekends once a month Followed by 2 weeks of training somewhere in North Dakota or somewhere else then more 3 day weekend trainings for another year then a final 2 weeks at Fort Lewis now called JBLM Or joint base Lewis McCord and then you would go back to camp San Luis Obispo for your graduation. All of this may have changed. You probably already know that they will pay you as an E5 sergeants pay during your time there. Remember the term 'cooperate and graduate'. It's OK to be competitive but help a fellow soldier and something you are good at because he may know something you don't and you both can become better leaders or more proficiant in your tasks given to you like land Navigation and terrain association. Be physically fit and hang in there! I would say the biggest problem I saw of people who quit OCS was lack of support from your spouse, family or significant other. Be prepared to do some extra paperwork and reports on your off time. You may have moments of stress That were harder than basic training but don't worry about it and do the best you can! The Army National Guard and army reserve are always short of officers because people get promoted, people retire and people leave.

Here is the base phone number and I'm sure you can get directed to the right extension. I became an officer because I was speaking as somebody on the old American online and they told me that there was a symposium at Los Alamos toes armed forces reserve center and my unit didn't inform me. I called camp San Luis Obispo California military Academy and they cut me orders for me to get paid to show up to a symposium. If you already have your college degree out of the way, I would suggest you call them and tell them this. The staff at SLO will probably tell you to wait to you get to your 1st unit.

Camp San Luis Obispo is a United States Army instillation located in San Luis Obispo County on the ... Post Operations Phone: [login to see] .

LTC (Join to see) “Cooperate and graduate”? Is that term still used at CMA?

Do the CMA TACs still ‘drag’ their 4s when counting cadence?

PARKER HALL at Camp San Luis Obispo is named after a revered CAARNG State SGM, Hester Parker of the 1968-1975 era. Parker Hall is an old classroom building that was converted to an NCO Club after my having attended classes there during BCT in 1953. The Sergeant’s
Major Association of CA funded and built a small, (20 spaces), recreational vehicle park adjacent to Parker Hall. My western style belt buckle from that organization was #67.

Former OCS company commander here from 2008 to 2010. Things have changed a bit. Phase 0 normally runs from March thru May. Phase 1 in South Dakota runs from the last week of June into July and then a second Phase 1 during the same time Phase 3 runs. This is normally the last two weeks of July. Phase 2 would star in August back in California and last until June 2021. Phase 3 would then be held in July 2021, either in South Dakota or, like my fellow phase 3 1996 classmate LTC Conway stated, it could be at Ft. Lewis.
