You have been tasked with organizing a BN leadership team. Given only the people here on rallypoint, what would your "dream team" look like?
Assign positions from BN commander and CSM down to company 1SGs and commanders, to include the BN positions.

BN commander
BN XO
Adjutant
BN CSM
Ops SGM
S1 NCO and officer
S2 NCO and officer
S3 NCO and officer
S4 NCO and officer
S6 NCO and officer
Chaplain
MedO
ChemO

A,B,C,D company 1SGs and commanders

Wow, me and CPT Aaron Kletzing, one of the brains behind RallyPoint, as a team? I better start stepping my game up. ;)

Excellent. My first order of business is to send myself TDY on unit funds on a tour of subtropical locales to determine the feasibility of an RP skydiving and recreational SCUBA boondoggle.

At your leisure 1SG(P) (Join to see). See ,I learned a long time ago that having operators on staff is a good thing - maybe not so much from your end, but for the advantage of us "regulars" - because you see the real picture. It's simply who, when and where w/o the baggage of how, why and MDMP (a.k.a. lets have a meeting to plan the next meeting) Not to mention you have a mastery of priorities :-)

We would definitely need someone to do all the work (and presumably get none of the credit). I nominate SGT (Join to see)

Sure PO3 (Join to see), I'm not hugely familiar with all the Navy terms so I'll ask my esteemed CSM CMC Robert Young and other unit members to help me out, A battalion is an Army/Marine unit approximately 5-600 soldiers, depending on the type of unit, headed by a LTC (Commander in NAVSPEAK) divided into a headquarters company that deals with the personnel/logistics/operations stuff and 3-4 line companies that perform the missions. So for an MP (military police) Bn, you have 3 line companies that go out and patrol roads, perform convoy escorts, and some times detention operations. The HQ company is the command and control for the companies, plans the missions, makes sure the beans & bullets get pushed out, etc.

A battalion is a unit with 300 to 1,200 soldiers that usually consists of two to seven companies or batteries and is commanded by either a lieutenant colonel (normally) or a colonel. Several battalions form a regiment or brigade.

Our Battalion was three line companies and a headquarters and service company. During deployments we had all the support units that was needed for our BN.

Alright, good stuff. Sounds like it's about the same size as a "command" for a ship... depending on the type of ship (Obviously, not the same as an aircraft carrier....LOL!).

I was on an AOE (Supply ship) and we had about 600 people on board. Only one CO/XO, etc, but then when we were on deployment we would have an Air Detachment group who "weren't really part of us" and they never ever let you forget it. I think that was really the only subset group we ever had onboard with us.
