Does one US military branch think it's superior?

Do you feel there is still an "inner service rivalry" between the Service Branches or that any one branch thinks they are Superior?
RP Members what do you think - be honest and professional in your responses please! Thank you
With all the deployments and joint operations that we have been involved in over the last 15 plus years of war and prior to that as well, aren't we all part of something a little bigger than our own service branches? We represent the United States of America in so many ways! We represent the freedom that all of the American citizens enjoy, to include ourselves!
For myself, I think is great to that we have the Navy/Army/Air Force rivalry on the football field and other sports, but I think it is important to realize the importance of joint operations and synchronization among the service branches.
I don't think that anyone branch is better than the other. That is my personal feeling.
They all have their specific missions, training philosophies, challenges, and characteristics that make them unique and special, but does that make them inferior or superior to the other service branches?

I was told that the Army was FIRST and Marines followed us...but we all walk side by side. Family had all branches and I was the FIRST female to sign so I am HONORED to call ALL of you FAMILY.

Burroughs - you have your 10 % (knuckleheads) in every branch, anyone that has served with the other branches and is being honest vice cocky realizes they are different but none are inferior, we all have different missions and without the total force it would be hard to get the job done from a global perspective, USN was great afloat and anybody that thinks they have it rough needs to spend a few months on a ship and realize what Navy life is about, most of us have appreciated the service of the other branches in some manner, slam USAF all you want but when it comes time to catch a MAC (now AMC) flight home we appreciate them a lot more, or when you need something to sustain ops and it is flown from CONUS to theater on USAF transports etc., we didn't have nearly the footprint or assets of US Army in theater but always got to know the Signals guys because they could patch us through with a phone call from one of those Sat shot trailers that the guys from Ft. Gordon had, so many more examples that are more mission-specific such as CAS and more and we often fail to mention the Coasties but they are in harm's way every day with narco interdiction and sea rescue, we should be proud to all have served or to be currently serving as part of the World's greatest military

CW3 Kevin Storm - Army was supposed to get LAV's and were lead service during early stages of acquisition. They decided against them and USMC made good use of them. We structured a Light Infantry Recon BN around them. Just read today that 82d is looking into getting up to 60 of them for their rapid response mission. USMC loaned them a few to work with and to work with USAF on air-delivery from C-17's. USMC has been getting stuff from Army for years and making it work. Primarily because of budget that usually precludes USMC from being the lead service on acquisition. Lots of competition for $ within Dept. of Navy and they even spread the cost for Marine Air with Navy "blue dollars".

Well done Sir! My Dad was with 1/7 on the MLR in Korea, Uncles in WWII, Brothers in Air Force, I wouldn't have been content anywhere but where I was. It's great to have a place for everyone whom wishes to serve, not everyone can be a Marine. Semper Fi.

CWO3 (Join to see) - There is a great story in "First to Fight!" by General Krulak. He was in the Marine Detachment on USS Arizona pre-war. A US Army supply ship wrecked and its cargo of lumber was thrown up on the beach. One of the Gunnery Sergeants went out and stamped all the planks 'USMC'.

Why I joined the Air Force.
The Department of Defense was conducting an All Services briefing and posed this question:
“What would you do if you found a scorpion in your tent?”
A Sailor said, “I’d step on it.”
A Soldier said, “I’d squash it with my boot.”
A Marine said, “I’d catch it, break the stinger off, and eat it.”
An Airman said, “I’d call room service and find out why there’s a tent in my room!”

COL Mikel J. Burroughs I would say the Marines think they better at everything, as an outsider. But, in reality, I think we all think we are best, and hence superior. As you know, in the joint world, we need each other.

LCpl Donald Faucett - I’m teaching them now that my in-laws have moved out and took their nice HE washer with them so we're back to using the smaller old one. The HE was too big, none of my sons could reach the bottom to transfer clothes to the dryer. I could barely reach standing on my tip-toes. One of the disadvantages to being short. My MIL has to use one of those grabber thingies to reach in hers because she’s even shorter than me. (Not the MIL that was living with me, hubby’s mother, his stepmom was the one living here, she’s an inch or so taller than me) There towards the end before they sold us the house and moved, I was doing their laundry along with ours because mobility issues kept them from being able to go up and down the basement stairs. Those mobility issues are what caused them to decide to downsize on the house.

I was raised in an old two story house, with a basement. I believe it was haunted. I’ve fell or been pushed down the stairs many times. Anyway my mom used an antique wringer type washer, well into the 70s

Cpl Elizabeth Koeneman - Opinion... pure opinion.... I went to AIT, LT and CPTs course with Marines, and they were less than impressive, aside from their uniforms and attitudes... In combat, I was not impressed. But, I am envious of the Corps wide pervasive attitude..

LCpl Donald Faucett - our house is also haunted, but our ghosts are mischievous, not mean. Well, one is mischievous, a little girl, the other just chills here, we'll see him occasionally, but he never does anything. The little girl will take things, my in-laws had a painting disappear off their wall and never turn up. Same with a Home Depot gift card they got as a housewarming gift. We starting calling her “number 6” since we have five sons of our own. The other is “the man”.
COL Williams, that attitude comes from the way we’re trained. When you spend 13 weeks having it drilled into your head that you chose to belong to the best and so must be the best, it tends to stick. Lol In my case, I was a weird, quiet kid before joining, the whole attitude and confidence was a total draw for me because I wanted that self-confidence. When my dad met my senior drill instructor on family day, she asked him if I seemed any different and the first words out of his mouth were, “she seems taller.” And I guess I did because I was no longer drawing myself into myself, trying to disappear into the background. He was completely against my joining at first, he was in the Army during Vietnam and wanted me to either go to college first and become an officer or go into the Air Force because he wanted me to have an easier life than he did. However, after it became a certainty that that was the path I was taking, he was proud of me. He even told me before I left for boot camp that when I picked up corporal, he’d get me an NCO sword to celebrate. It’s sitting in my room, waiting for me to order the display shield so I can hang it up over my fireplace now that we own a home.

Comparing the various branches is like comparing hammers.....each type of hammer was designed to do a specific job.....and is best suited for that job..... saying a sledge hammer is better than a tack hammer is silly unless you specify the mission.
In my ranger class the top graduate was FORCE RECON.....and he was GREAT....deserved the honor.....we also had one of the dumbest Marines I ever met in my life in that Ranger class.....

I was pinned down near Tay Nin.....an ambush..... then came "PUFF'.... saved my skinny butt..... no matter what your job.....no matter what your branch..... we are a team..... that little REMF driving that ammo truck from Saigon...... is keeping my Green Beret ass alive
